Halloween and Turkey Day

Sorry for the lack of posts, it's been a little nutty around here. The milestones seem to come almost daily and the big excitement lately has been the addition of solid (and I use that term loosely) foods, just in time to chow down on Thanskgiving

We're already getting excited for Christmas, Eliza doesn't know what's coming, all she knows is there is suddenly a tree in our entryway.

First Fall, and 6 months Already!

Eliza had her 6 month birthday this past week, so a good time for a long awaited update! It's been a busy month for Eliza, who between learning to roll over and doing lots of (very loud) "talking" she saw some old friends (like her Great Aunt Beth and future husband Ian) and met some new ones (like Diem and her Great-Godmother Silvia)

The rest of her time has been spent with new toys (like her Jumperoo and new high chair), and putting up with her parents putting her in silly outfits.

Since I have the rest of her life to embarrass her (as I'm pretty sure that is the primary role that a father has to play with a daughter), I'll avoid the classic bathtime shots and instead leave you with these two. I have a feeling the next post will contain some Halloween pictures, so see you then!

Labor Day and Visitors from DC and Florida

Labor Day weekend got off to a wacky start, due to Irene, but once power came back to Madison Saturday morning (!) Eliza insisted that we go see her grandparents, Aunt Sarah, and the Fosters.

Too young for a watermelon margarita?

Poppys!

The following weekend, Saj and Courtney came to visit!

And in all that excitement....Eliza met her great-grandmother, Gram Pete!

See you next time!

August Part Deux

Second half of August may not have had a lot of summery activities, but it wasn't boring!

Eliza spent a lot more time outside, just watching the traffic go by or hanging out in the park.

She was photographed for her first national publication (distribution: current and ex- Frankel Group employees)

She showed that she could sit up...not for long, but long enough to join her parents at the dinner table for a bit. Or long enough to play with her caterpillar, at least.

Toward the end of the month, Grammy came for a couple days so Cam could make some progress on the papers she never finished last spring, due to someone's slightly early arrival. They had lots of fun playing together, and reading.

Then Irene came...we had to make our own fun.

Family Vacation!

After her parents missed it last year (something about moving to a new state), Dave's whole family got together for a long weekend in the Berkshires. With an aunt, two uncles, and two grandparents to give her lots of attention, Eliza was (nearly) all smiles.

The uncles were much more comfortable holding Eliza this time around. Fact that she's nearly 2X as heavy may have something to do with it!

Not pictured here...Eliza going for her 3.5 hours of walk naps a day. Considering we were at a ski resort, we all got major quad workouts.

Someone needs to tell Eliza's dad that she's not actually going to start walking on her own soon...it's not stopping him from training her though!

More July Fun

Eliza has kept her parents pretty darn busy this month. All the while learning new tricks and growing up a little each day.

Here's Eliza (bottom middle) at her last day of her New Beginnings class. Two of the other babies there had the exact same birthday!

Tummy time!

After trying bouncy chair after bouncy chair and swing after swing, we finally found a winner.

Eliza sits in front of her favorite paintings. Painted by her great-grandmother Bunny, she smiles almost every time she sees them.

She's getting bigger, but she still likes to be swaddled tightly for her naps.

Lounging upstairs at Grammy and Grandpa J's on a hot summer day.

And lounging with Grandpa J

July 4th weekend

We like to do up the 4th of July weekend in Madison. Eliza seemed to enjoy (read: sleep through) the concert on the green including the cannons during 1812 Overture, and the fireworks.

Eliza got to meet Kristy, Noel, and the kids. I think she'll be looking up to them for a long time (literally and figuratively)

Auntie Leah got a turn with the Moby...
...which probably protected Eliza better than even a lobster bib would.

A first major holiday gave Eliza the first chance to dress up accordingly...
